Deepavali weekend+funny scare

Spent the Deepavali holiday here in Kedah instead of back home in KL this year… Why you ask?? Coz I thought that my external hard disk was spoilt and wanted to get a new one at the PC Fair here at Village Mall… Turned out, God was so awesome that He healed an inanimate object for me… LOL!!! It’s totally cured just like that though one computer dude said it was beyond the point of no repair.. (Dunno whether that guy was totally inefficient or I sighted a plain miracle at work, lol…) But my parents were like “Whether miracle or otherwise, you could have gotten a new one from Low Yat Plaza here you know??” Well, that’s true but I wanted to stay here to strengthen myself… In a setting filled with family love and unconditional care, one wouldn’t grow strong.. And in a situation like the one I’m having now (to those who knows), I need to be tougher, to be able to face certain stuffs alone… But I sincerely thank my family so much for all that they did and I’m sure will continue doing, I LOVE YOU ALL!!! Plus the many true friends I can trust after sieving through my pile of friends-- Thank you!!  So, there you have it, my somewhat logical explanation on why I’m not back home…

Anyway, because of that, I experienced a REALLY funny incident yesterday.. TNB had to do some maintanence work yesterday to upgrade our campus’ electrical supply so we were to literally live in the dark from 10am-10pm… Since they cut off the supply at 9.30am, my roommate and I plus Claud next door went out for lunch to escape the heat.. Then we headed off to Village Mall to do some shopping, which we couldn’t do much due to the lack of shops and even tea-time at Secret Recipe, we had to go home at 5.30pm, assuming that the electricity would be back by then… Well, the whole place was still dark til 7pm… Cut the story short, we decided to go out again for dinner and to buy candles in case we’ll be left in the dark for long…. As we were walking down the stairs, the fire alarm suddenly went off and was shrieking as loud as it could.. Since the place was desolate, the neverending alarm was quite scary.. As we proceeded to my car  equipped with torchlights in our hands, lo and behold, we saw two huge red trucks in the carpark easing in our hostel… With the fire alarm blazing its head off, one would think those were the fire trucks right?? So, I got freaked out when I drove out and called my dad.. Daddy thinks I should give a call to the TNB hotline to find out what happened so well, here goes…

fireTNB staff: What is the problem, miss?
Me: Well, our university is still dark now after 12 hours.. When will the electricity be back on?
TNB staff: You mean your university has no electricity?
Me: Yes, the whole campus.
TNB staff: Well, sorry but we are not responsible for power failure inside a university. You would have to call a wireman.
Me: No!! I meant it was a TNB upgrading project that caused the breakdown.
TNB staff: Yes, I understand but like I said, we are not responsible for the electrical malfunction inside a university.
Me: But this is due to your project!!
TNB staff: Yes, but we are not responsible for it. Better call a wireman, miss.
Me: .. You don’t understand!! …..But… *exasperated* Fine, never mind, then can I know what happened that there’s fire trucks parked in our parking lots then?
TNB staff: In your campus?
Me: Yes, in my campus.
TNB staff: Well, you’d have to call a wireman to find out.
Me: WHAT?? A wireman is responsible for fire trucks now?
TNB staff: Yes, we are not responsible. Better call a wireman, miss.
Me: Call a wireman to see why are there fire trucks in my campus, after the electrical breakdown, which was due to a TNB upgrading project?
TNB staff: Yes, call a wireman, miss. We are not responsible to electrical breakdown inside a university campus.
Me: ……………..*speechless* Yeah well, thanks for your help, k?
*Clicks*
Me thinking.. ‘or no help at all… And… what is a wireman in the first place???!!!”

Totally bizarre irrelevant conversation between  two confused souls, lol…

In the end, we found out that the two blazing red hot trucks were the generator trucks that were called in to temporarily supply electricity until TNB were done with their work. Which was 1am coz the power got cut for 10 minutes again and we happily lit up the newly bought candles for well, 10 minutes… Lol… I’m so glad I didn’t make a big fuss about the “fire trucks”.. Imagine me going, “I DON’T CARE!! GET YOUR BOSS ON THE LINE TO EXPLAIN TO ME WHY THE HECK IS THERE FIRE TRUCK INVOLVED IN A BLACKOUT SITUATION RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” And that the person really did call the fire department to see whether trucks are sent into our campus.. That, my friends,  would be totally EMBARRASSING to say the least!!! Hahahahahahaha…. All in all, I had a fun weekend… Spent a lot but learnt a lot too… Till next time, adieu!!
