I’d have to admit first that I had quite a huge number of missed dental appointments for the last 2 years, but this year had been good. The previous 2 years wasn’t bad too though. I had so many nice and kind patients. Patients who appreciate what you’ve done for them, patients who are responsible and comes on time knowing how it helps us help them, patients who treat me as their child/ grandchild. I’ve had patients bringing me tens of fruits each time she comes, I’ve had patients bringing me kuih in the morning knowing I oversleep and skips breakfast sometimes, that same patient giving me ang pow for CNY, fresh vegetables from the garden, and even paid for a meal out. I’ve had patient who thank me so many times I feel embarrassed for not doing a better or faster work for them (not to say my job was slow or sloppy, or not to my best ability. I ALWAYS give my patient excellent dental service. Hehe.)
My patient today is was (still is??)a dental phobic. Scared of needles, scared of the sound of drills, scared of the overhead light, scared of too much water in the mouth. But when I told her how she was much better with the drillings and the needle and everything today, she said, “ Well, coz I trust in you a lot, and you’re an awesome dentist.” Wow. Talk about being sweet! Even when I gave an inferior alveolar nerve block which she said is scarily painful the last time she had it and closed her eyes, tight, anticipating the pain, it ended with her not feeling pain at all. Hehe. Not that my technique was better but she trusts me more I think. So proud of myself.
So yes, I am truly grateful for all the nice patients I had, and those currently under my care. It was a real memorable journey thus far and I shall push forth with my best foot forward (my left I think..hahaha…) until I become a Dr and even further down the path of life!! I am truly a blessed gal!!
PS Sorry aikmunn, I had patients that you wished you had. Hehe. (Whoops, sorry for the hehe…)
Oh yeah, as an after note, these were pasted along the corridors by our changing rooms in the dental building. Real nice isn’t it?? I hope all kids would know now how dentists are not so scary as they think and that we’re normal, nice ppl too!! Lol…
Great teeth for great smiles posters
